Modern Heroines

Photographed Oct - Dec 2013  /  This project demonstrates the influence of film in fashion and how this affects the consumer audience in how we perceive ourselves and others. Inspired by iconic characters in film from this generation and the famous actresses who personify them; Modern Heroines is a series of fashion portraits that explores representations of women and how clothes are the key to how a woman is surveyed. This series, further inspired by Autumn/Winter 2013 fashion trend ‘Hitchcock Heroine’ where designers used cinematic references from the film noir era; examines the connection between dress, character and the influence that film and fashion have. The main question being: who is the modern heroine today and what characteristics does she possess?
